On the October 20, 2018, my team and I had the pleasure of setting up and coordinating Jo Anne and Bryan’s wedding day in Houston. The couple are die-hard Houston Astros fans and decided to #TakeOctober with a blue and orange theme wedding. Though I am based in Oakland, planning was easy thanks to technology and a site visit the week of the wedding to review the final details sealed the deal. It was a day full of love and surprises and I am so excited to share these photos, taken by and courtesy of Kendra Harwell Photography.
The Bride and Groom got ready at the at two different hotels that were side by side. With 10 people in the bridal party alone, hair and makeup started early (6:00 a.m.!) and was finished by the time I arrived to check in. I met and touched base with the videographer, DJ Cocroft of JettLife Productions, and Kendra Harwell and her assistant to review the timeline and any changes. They split up between the hotels to capture final getting ready moments, including a bride and groom gift exchange. We then headed to the church, where the couple opted for a blindfolded first prayer instead of a first look.
Jo Anne and Bryan had a Catholic wedding ceremony that incorporated Filipino and Mexican traditions, including the participation of Primary and Secondary Sponsors and a Coin, Cord, and Veil ceremony. The bride’s beautiful cathedral length veil was actually purchased by her mother in the Philippines. While I managed the ceremony, wedding party, and families, my team was at the reception location setting up.
The reception was held at the Sheraton Houston Brookhollow Hotel. Linens, centerpieces, table settings, and a beautiful custom backdrop were made by Dulce Godinez of Linen Rental Houston. An amazing 3-tiered Astros themed cake was made by Ida’s Sweet Creations, signs and decor designed by planner Gracie Martinez, and DJ Wicked kept the party poppin.
Before the party ended, we set out the party favors (peanuts and cracker jacks!) while the fine ladies of Alpha Kappa Alpha surrounded the bride with their love during their sorority ritual and the gentlemen of Sigma Lambda Beta brought the heat with the groom during their fraternity stroll. The wedding party arranged for a special surprise guest for the bride and groom. Watch the wedding video below by JettLife Productions to find out who it was!
Three cheers for the newlyweds!
Thank you to Jo Anne and Bryan and for trusting The Organization Organization with executing the day they’d put so much thought, detail, hard work, and love into! A baseball themed wedding was a first for us and we were honored to help bring it to life. And of course, a big thank you to all 17 different vendors we worked with for bringing their best up to bat!
