Top 5 Tips for Finding the Right Wedding Vendors

Congrats! You're engaged and have set a date for your wedding. Once you’ve figured out your budget for the big day (which is a whoooole 'nother topic in itself), the next step on your to-do list is to find vendors who can help bring your wedding day vision to life. Not sure where to start? Here are five tips on how to find the right wedding vendors.

1. Ask Family and Friends for Recommendations

Do you have a friend or family member who recently walked down the aisle? Save yourself a lot of time and trouble vetting vendors by asking if they can refer a someone. After all, there’s nothing like personal recommendations from people you know and trust. They can also warn you about vendors who were unprofessional or didn’t follow through.

2. Search for Vendors Online

How did we live before customer reviews? I have no idea. You can also source vendors by visiting Yelp and popular wedding themed websites like WeddingWire or TheKnot. Filter the results based on your location and budget until you have a list of prospective vendors you want to contact. Next, check out their website to learn more about the company and look up their reviews to see what previous couples had to say about their business.

3. Go to Bridal Shows

Bridal shows are a great way to meet multiple vendors at once and speak to business owners in person. But be warned - they can be very overwhelming. So many options and things you never even thought were a thing! Remember to wear comfortable shoes and bring an extra cell phone battery charger. You're sure to take lots of photos at an expo - of yourself, your friends, wedding ideas, and possible vendors.

4. Ask Your Wedding Coordinator

If you hired a wedding coordinator, ask if they have a preferred vendor network. Wedding coordinators are a great resource for newly engaged couples because they usually have an extensive network of professionals who work in the industry. Since their reputation is on the line, you can be confident they will refer vendors who can deliver.

5. Look for Vendors on Social Media

Another tip for finding wedding vendors is to use social media. Go to Instagram and search for hashtags with the name of your city and the type of vendor you want to find. For example, if you’re tying the knot in San Francisco search for hashtags like #SanFranciscoWeddingVideographer or #BayAreaWeddingPhotographer. If you find a vendor you like, direct message them.

The right vendors can help give you peace of mind and reduce stress of wedding planning. If you’re looking for an experienced wedding coordinator, don't hesitate to contact me. And whether or not you go with me, please invest in a coordinator! You only get a few hours to celebrate this wonderful occasion and the last thing you want to do is worry about all the little things that may pop up.
